British indie wrestler James Riley, aka Jay Knox, has been sentenced to almost two years behind bars after "seeing red" and kicking another wrestler full force in the face during their match, resulting in serious injury.

Knox was facing trainee wrestler Rob Wilson in a bout held in a Dorset scout hut when the latter aimed a stiff kick to his opponent's midsection. Knox reportedly told Wilson he had a "receipt" coming, before booting him square in the face "like a football," fracturing his skull in the process.

Wilson collapsed after the match and was taken to hospital where it was revealed that he'd suffered fractured eye sockets, nose, jaw and teeth. He required three hours of reconstructive surgery.

Riley with later charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm, and sentenced to 21 months in prison.

"He could have killed me, so I am 100 per cent glad he has been jailed," said Wilson. "What happened to me was not a wrestling accident, it was not part of the show, it was assault. He took the conscious decision to hurt me, he betrayed the trust I placed in him, and he left me unrecognizable."

You can check out the incident for yourselves in the video below, but be warned, it's not pretty.
