The IWGP United States Champion competed in his first match-up in the G1 Climax against former NEVER Openweight Champion Taichi. Check out various photos of the tournament bout between the New Japan talents.

Former WWE Champion Jon Moxley has been on a roll ever since leaving his ex-employer back in April. The former Shield member came into New Japan Pro Wrestling strong by winning the IWGP United States Championship in his first match.

However, Moxley’s true test is the G1 Climax as the 33-year-old will face off against the likes of Tomohiro Ishii, Jay White, and Tetsuya Naito. His first opponent was former NEVER Openweight Champion Taichi and despite the best efforts of the former NEVER Openweight Champion, Jon Moxley was able to pull out the victory in his first match-up in the G1 Climax tournament.

The bout started chaotic as Taichi attacked Moxley as he was making his entrance through the audience and beatdown the current IWGP United States Champion in the first half of the match. However, after being hit with chairs and various other weapons, Moxley was able to mount a comeback and connect with the Death Rider for the three count.
