It’s been nearly eight months since DIY’s heartbreaking split back at NXT Takeover: Chicago. To recap, After DIY lost their rematch against then NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain, Tommaso Ciampa brutally beat down his partner Johnny Gargano in a stunning betrayal. Ciampa would go on to blame the fans for his betrayal, citing his injury and the “dream partners” the fans thought of, trying to make him an afterthought.
While Tommaso Ciampa has been sidelined due to injury , Johnny Gargano seems to be on an upward swing as he'll be fighting for a shot at the NXT Championship at Takeover: Philadelphia .
Gargano posted a tweet on New Year’s stating that 2018 might be a good year for him. However Ciampa, simply replied back with “Happy New Year, man”. Does this foreshadow Ciampa’s return at Philadelphia? It’s unknown whether Ciampa has been cleared to compete yet, but rumors have been swirling that Ciampa should be making his in ring return soon.
