According to WrestlingNews.co, next week's episode of AEW Dynamite could feature the debut of another former WWE Superstar. AEW has definitely been selective with who they choose to sign up, but this makes perfect sense (assuming it ends up happening).
As previously noted, it's looking like Bray Wyatt (now going by Windham Rotunda) is indeed heading to AEW after his shock WWE release, likely as the new leader of The Dark Order.
There have been teases for weeks about a split within the group, and it does feel like this is all building to them uniting under a new leader. As we have no doubt you'll recall, Brodie Lee was originally calling the shots in the faction, but his tragic death last year left the group directionless. Rotunda was obviously extremely close to Lee (known as Luke Harper in WWE), so having him make his AEW debut in Rochester, New York, feels right as that's Bodie's hometown.
Rotunda is still under a 90-day non-compete, but the site notes that "he has the option to waive it and not take the money from WWE. If that is what he chose to do then he would be free to appear on any wrestling TV show."
There has been interest in the former WWE Superstar from IMPACT Wrestling as well, but AEW feels like the best possible location for him. The company will just need to be careful to avoid taking him down too similar a route to the role he played in WWE as leader of The Wyatt Family.
As always, keep checking back here for updates as we have them.
