Will Daniel Garcia give Adam Cole another shot at the TNT Championship?
This past Sunday, AEW held a special AEW Collision that saw Daniel Gracia defend his title against Adam Cole. This was Cole’s second shot at the TNT Championship as interference in their previous match turned it into a no contest.
For 20-minutes, Cole and Gracia went to war and it seemed that Cole had the match won after a nasty Canadian destroyer on the apron. Just as Cole was going for his finisher, the bell rang, with the match ending in a time limit draw. That means Daniel Garcia is still the TNT Champion, but as you can imagine, Adam Cole is not happy about that.
The Undisputed Kingdom leader demanded that Garcia give him a rematch and promised to beat him if he does.
This little rivalry has been brewing between Cole and Garcia since the former beat the TNT Champion in a six man tag team match. Given that Garcia seemed perfectly fine with the time limit draw, it seems that he’s on his way to turning heel. The 26-year-old has been showing some heel tendencies as of late and it should be interesting to see where the next chapter of this saga goes.
Adam Cole has been in AEW for four years and he's still vying for his first championship. Garcia is seemingly enjoying his feud with Cole as the TNT Champion spoke to Baby Huey on the In The Kliq podcast and he feels that their rivalry has produced some of Collision’s best shows:
"That match was a shock to me. I came to the back, and Tony was like, 'Hey, you're defending your title.' Because obviously, like, they announced it on TV. I don't see that. I'm in the ring. Get to the back, and Tony's like, 'Hey, you're defending your title against Adam Cole this weekend.' Like, I wasn't ready for that. Come on. I was very surprised," he said. "Adam Cole, me and him, have some built tension over the past couple weeks, I would say over the past four or five weeks.
I think we're on a great run of Collisions. Maybe our best run ever. I think a lot of that has to do with the tension that me and Adam Cole have built up. Whenever he's in the ring with me, I see the way he looks at me, and those eyes can only mean one or two things. Either he's got a crush on old DG, or he wants a shot at the TNT title. So, if he wants a shot at the TNT title, that's what he's going to get.
Will Daniel Garcia give him a third title match? We’ll find out soon!
