Could we see Adam Cole as the AEW World Champion someday?

It wouldn’t be an impossibility since Adam Cole has won the world title with nearly every promotion he’s been in.

It certainly seemed that Cole was destined to win the world title last year during his feud with MJF. Unfortunately, the former NXT Champion suffered an injury that put him on the shelf for a lengthy period of time and the Devil storyline had to be dropped because of Cole’s inactivity.

The AEW star is officially back and has one objective in mind: the AEW World Championship. He spoke on The Danny Ocean Show and said that he would feel “disappointed” if he never won the belt:

"Absolutely winning the AEW World Championship, without question. If my career in AEW doesn’t involve me becoming the AEW World Champion at some point, I will feel disappointed. It’s been a goal of mine in every promotion I’ve ever worked for, whether it’s Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, NXT, you name it. The goal obviously is to be the guy and to have the company put everything behind you, and you carry the flag. So again it was my mission when I first joined AEW, and it will continue to be my mission. Right now, my main focus is MJF, of course, but the AEW World Title is always in the back of my head, and that is my number one goal," Cole said.

The 35-year-old also discussed returning to AEW after his major injury and how terrified he felt stepping into the ring again after such a long absence. The 22-minute intervew mostly focuses on Cole’s recent run and for the most part, the AEW star is mostly in character. Still, it’s a great interview that gives you more context on Cole's mindset and his feud with MJF currently.

Though Adam Cole failed to be added to the match with Roderick Strong at Full Gear, he’ll have a chance at finally getting his hands on MJF for the Dynamite ring. However, he has to go through Kyle O’Reilly first. Though the story has been a bit clunky from the beginning, Cole and O’Reilly should still be able to produce a great match at AEW’s Winter is Coming show next week in Kansas City.

Check out the full interview where Adam Cole discusses being left out of the Full Gear match between MJF and Roderick Strong, working with The House of Black, and so much more!
