Backstage News On Why RUSH Has Been Off AEW Television

The former ROH World Champion seemed to be in line for a big push until he randomly disappeared from AEW television following his loss to The Acclaimed in November 2024.

It seems that there’s heat on former ROH World Champion RUSH.

Have you noticed that RUSH has completely vanished from AEW Television since his loss to The Acclaimed on November 14th? Well, it appears there’s heat on the 36-year-old, according to Fightful Select. The report states that RUSH and The Beast Mortos were originally slated to beat the former AEW World Tag Team Champions, but RUSH got physical with his Rampage opponents the night before Collision. He won his match against Richard Holliday (a former MLW associate to MJF) and Alec Price, but Holliday had to be checked on by AEW medic. Apparently, this is a recurring problem with the former ROH World Champion.

The Beast Mortos has been wrestling solo ever since, with the La Faccion Ingobernable member notably being in the Continental Classic. There’s no word on how long officials plan to keep RUSH off AEW television. Meanwhile, the AEW star has been silent on the situation, though he did release a cryptic tweet that indicated that he could be returning soon.

RUSH’s AEW run has been filled with stop and start pushes. Every time it appears management is getting ready to push the former world champion, he’s either taken off television due to injury or disciplinary reasons. RUSH has failed to recapture the magic he had during his time in ROH because he simply hasn't sustained momentum long enough to reach that level again.

RUSH re-signed with AEW in 2023, and though the exact date of his contract isn’t confirmed, it’s believed to be a lucrative multi-year deal. Jose The Assistant spoke on why RUSH opted to remain in AEW, despite chatter that WWE was highly interested in the Mexican star.

Hopefully, RUSH can get his act together in 2025. Given AEW’s stacked roster, that won’t be an easy feat, though you can’t deny that Tony Khan isn’t trying to do something with the popular La Faccion Ingobernable star. As previously stated, it’s not mentioned when officials plan to bring back RUSH, nor is there any word on what the original scrapped long term plans were for the newly formed La Faccion Ingobernable.
