We found out late last night that All Elite Wrestling would hold an 8-man tournament to crown the first-ever TNT Champion, and now we know which wrestlers will compete in the first quarter final matches.
Tonight on AEW Dark, it was announced that Cody will face Shawn Spears, and Sammy Guevara will take on Darby Allin.
None of these guys are strangers to each other. Spears was one of Cody's first feuds in AEW, and infamously busted him open with a brutal steel chair shot. The American Nightmare ultimately won their subsequent match, and Spears hasn't really found his feet on the roster since.
Darby and The Inner Circle's Guevara have also squared off in the past, and the Spanish God will be looking to avenge his loss to the increasingly popular Allin.
The matches are currently set to take place on the April 8th episode of Dynamite, but that's obviously subject to change given the current situation. We'll find out who will take the spots in the other half of the quarter final bracket tomorrow night.
