Former TNT Champion and Emmy Winner?

It seems that Adam Copeland may beat John Cena, Dave Bautista, and The Rock (or Dwayne Johnson) to the punch in terms of winning one of the most prestigious awards that Hollywood has to offer. Though Dwayne Johnson has done an HBO series (Ballers), he was never nominated for an Emmy. John Cena’s been nominated for a daytime Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Game Show for hosting Nickelodeon's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. He didn’t win.

The Children’s & Family Emmy award just announced that Copeland had been nominated for best supporting role for the Disney Plus series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The 51-year-old played Ares on the series. Below is the full nominee list of the supporting actor category:

Adam Copeland as Ares
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Disney+

Amanda Lawrence as Matron Shipley
Malory Towers
BYUtv

Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol / Mrs. Claus
The Santa Clauses
Disney+

Sarah Rafferty as Katherine Walter
My Life with the Walter Boys
Netflix

Lance Reddick as Zeus
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Disney+

Eric Stonestreet as Magnus Antas / The Mad Santa
The Santa Clauses
Disney+

This is the first time Copeland has been nominated for an Emmy. The actor/pro wrestler has been acting for quite some time now; Copeland was in several other high profile shows such as Vikings, Haven, and The Flash.  The ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 15 in Los Angeles.

In terms of a possible return, Adam is still recovering from his leg injury. There isn’t an exact timetable on when he’ll make his return, but based on his interview with Leafs Morning Take Podcast, it sounds like his return isn’t too far off:

"My brain forgets I'm 51, but my body quickly reminded me, yeah, you just jumped from 21 feet, ass---. That's technically three stories. You're 51, quit it," Copeland said. "But I feel good. I'm ready to get back at it and to get busy again."

A lot has changed since Copeland was forced to vacate the TNT title following his match at Double or Nothing. Copeland is a babyface, and it would be interesting to see him mix it up with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders if he returns before the story ends. Either way, let’s hope that the AEW star doesn’t try to do too much and can remain injury free for the remainder of his AEW career.
