Who wants to walk with Elijah?

This past weekend has been a huge wave of WWE news that some other reports slipped through the cracks.

That news is about former WWE star Elias - who’s now going by Elijah - signing with Ring of Honor. The 37-year-old shared a video that gave a strong idea about his character and it seems that Elijah has joined Vincent and Dutch of The Righteous.

Since his WWE release in 2023, Jeffrey Sciullo (the real name of Elijah) has been really quiet. But Elijah was actually very active on the independent scene throughout 2024. The former WWE star wrestled in NWA, IWC, REVOLVER, WSW, and ALW. In fact, the only month that Elijah didn’t wrestle was in January 2024. His most recent event was the Jericho Cruise where he lost to Tommy Billington.

Returning to the independent scene actually reinvigorated Elijah’s passion for professional wrestling as he wasn’t sure that he would continue wrestling after his final months in WWE.

"The fact that I just kinda was relegated to like short backstage – it was so frustrating that I was like, 'You know what? Maybe I’m done with wrestling." He told Alistair McGeorge of Metro. “Maybe I’m just you know, I’m just over it. It beats that fun thing you have as a kid when you want to wrestle and you want to be in WWE… Someone like me, I didn’t like just to sit by and just collect the paycheck. I wanted to be in the mix. I wanted to show you that I could be right in there with any of those guys. To not have that happen was really just disheartening, you know what I mean? So I didn’t really know what I do after,"

"Then I’m like, 'Oh yeah, it’s there, that fun of wrestling! It’s there.' I just kind of want to do that now. It’s enjoyable to travel and wrestle, and be me, and meet people."

There’s no word on when Elijah will make his official ROH debut. The Wrestling Observer made note that this is an ROH contract, so it’s unlikely that he’ll show up on AEW programming as well. However, that’s speculation on my end as he could pop up in AEW every now and then. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how the dynamic between Elijah and the two Righteous members. The former WWE star always had the gift of gab, so he should be fine there. Hopefully, he’s managed to elevate his in-ring game as well.
