AEW held All In in front of a massive crowd at London's Wembley Stadium yesterday, and while the show looked decidedly low-budget, there's no denying it was an incredible achievement for the company.
Some, however, are casting doubt on the WrestleMania-beating announced attendance!
Luckily (or unluckily) for AEW, a bigger story has overshadowed that after news broke of a backstage fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry. A few weeks ago, we learned that they'd clashed about Perry's desire to use real glass for a stunt, with the rookie not interested in Punk's advice he should avoid maiming himself.
During Perry's All In match, he was involved in a spot that saw the windshield of a limo break. With that, he turned to the camera and said, "Real glass, cry me a river!"
Punk was waiting for him when he got backstage and according to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, "We have learned at least one side of the story, which claims that Jack Perry approached CM Punk backstage and 'stepped in his face' and 'bumped' Punk. Punk was said to have then pushed Perry. Perry allegedly 'came at Punk and got choked.'"
"We haven't heard of a particular kind of choke or who broke things up. Please note this is only one side of the story, and more details will emerge."
It was later reported that Perry was ordered to leave the building, while conflicting stories have since followed (Miro has dismissed the entire thing as fake news and others argue that Punk threw the first punch). So, is it too soon to dub All In "Brawl In"? Don't forget, this may all be storyline-based.
At a post-show press conference, AEW President Tony Khan said, "I can't comment on it at this time beyond what I'm about to say. Yes, there was an incident backstage...we are investigating it, and until I learn more about what happened, I can't comment on it at this time, but I did want to be honest with you and tell you that that is the case."
