WWE Interested In Bringing Braun Strowman Back After AEW's Recent Blockbuster Signings
It appears WWE does indeed want to bring Braun Strowman back, especially if reports that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are heading to All Elite Wrestling are correct. Find more details on that after the jump...
Over the weekend, new Braun Strowman merchandise appeared on WWE Shop and immediately created speculation that the Monster Among Men might be on his way back to the company.
We'd later learn that it was mistakenly listed as "new," but in today's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that WWE is, in fact, interesting in bringing Strowman back "especially after recent AEW signings." Those are, of course, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, two major acquisitions for AEW that could help turn the tide in a big way when it comes to ratings.
While neither Punk nor Bryan are likely to push Dynamite's ratings past RAW and SmackDown, their presence should be enough to significantly increase viewership (and will cement the Wednesday night show as being a bigger ratings draw than NXT at the very least).
As for Strowman, he was released by WWE back in June as a result of budget cuts. It's believed he was being paid a whopping $1.2 million per year by the company, and while he's unlikely to secure that from them again - no matter how much they want to keep the former Universal Champion away from AEW - they'll likely still pay him more than he'd earn elsewhere.
We'll see what happens, but with Strowman's non-compete set to lift on August 31, we'll soon find out what the future holds in store for him.
Do you think the Monster Among Men should return to WWE?
