Following Alexa Bliss' loss to RAW Women's Champion Charlotte Flair at Extreme Rules, there were immediately rumblings that WWE could be planning to repackage the popular Superstar.
While her supernatural gimmick worked in the ThunderDome, it's never really resonated with fans and serves as a painful reminder of Bray Wyatt's controversial release (many fans and former employees accused WWE of stealing The Fiend's gimmick and giving it to Bliss). Live crowds haven't really got on board with the idea any more than those at home, so it's clear something needs to change.
Now, Wrestling Inc. is reporting that Bliss will be taking an extended period of time away from TV.
It seems The Queen's destruction of Lilly will be the catalyst for that, though it's possible Bliss could appear on RAW tonight. Either way, the site notes that she's expected to be gone for at least "a few months," so chances are this is leading to the former Women's Champion being completely repackaged.
That could mean a whole new gimmick or a return to what worked so well before Bliss aligned herself with The Fiend. Regardless, Flair dropped a lot of hints about facing the old Alexa during her promos prior to Extreme Rules, and it seems highly likely WWE is planning a rematch somewhere down the line with her and a Bliss who doesn't act like a child with goofy supernatural powers.
