WWE Officials Reportedly Believe That Kevin Owens Is Definitely Heading To AEW Next Year
There have been a lot of hints recently that former Universal Champion Kevin Owens could be making his way to AEW as soon as his current contract ends, and a new report claims to confirm that. Check it out...
Kevin Owens recently took to Twitter to seemingly tease that he might be planning to leave WWE and sign with AEW. In 2018, the former Universal Champion mentioned in an interview that he'd signed a five-year extension, meaning he wouldn't be a free agent until 2023 at the soonest.
However, we've since learned that a contract restructuring prior to the pandemic means he'll be able to leave WWE next January. It's becoming increasingly difficult to imagine he wants to stick around, and Living The Gimmick's Jon Alba has now shared an interesting update on his podcast.
"Speaking with some WWE sources throughout the day, there is very much an internal belief Owens is gone at the end of his WWE deal," Alba claims. "He has dropped multiple hints on social media in the last 24 hours that allude to him being AEW-bound."
Those hints include posting the coordinates to Mt. Rushmore (his old PWG faction with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks) and changing the location in his Twitter bio to "Almost There."
If Owens does leave WWE, then he'll potentially join a stacked AEW roster that includes the likes of Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Andrade El Idolo, and Miro. The reason we list them is that they all also left WWE for greener pastures in AEW.
So, at this rate, expect to see Kevin Steen made an impact in AEW by the Spring of 2022.
