A new flyweight bout is set for the UFC Fight Night show on July 18 as Alexandre Pantoja will take on Askar Askarov.
Pantoja bounced back with a KO win over Matt Schnell at UFC Fight Night 165. The flyweight fell back in the rankings a bit when he suffered a devastating loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 240; however, Pantoja has won four out his last five fights, beating Brandon Moreno (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 129), Ulka Sasaki (via submission at UFC Fight Night 140), and Wilson Reis (via TKO at UFC 236). Pantoja’s professional record currently stands at 22 wins and 4 losses.
Askarov is hoping to continue building momentum after his unanimous decision victory over Tim Elliot. Despite suffering a split decision draw against Brandon Moreno at UFC Fight Night 159, the flyweight remains undefeated inside of the octagon. Before joining the UFC in 2019, Askarov competed in Absolute Championship Akhmat and Grand European Fighting Championship. Askarov’s professional record currently stands at 11 wins and 1 no contest.
The yet to be announced UFC Fight Night show takes place on Saturday, July 18 with a location and main event set to be confirmed very soon.
