A flyweight contest has been added to the UFC 252 pay-per-view as Rogerio Bontorin will take on Manel Kape.
Rogerio Bontorin is coming off a loss against Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night 167. Despite the devastating loss, the flyweight has won four out of his last five fights, notably beating Magomed Bibulatov (via TKO at UFC Fight Night 156) and Raulian Paiva (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 144). Bontorin is also an alumni from Dana White’s Contender Series, with his other stints being in Imortal Fight Championship and Brave Combat Federation. Bontorin’s professional record currently stands at 16 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no contest.
Kape is making his UFC debut on the strength of a three-fight winning streak. Mainly competing in Rizin Fighting Federation, the flyweight has beaten Seiichiro Ito (via TKO at Rizin 15), Takeya Mizugaki (via KO at Rizin 18), and Kai Asakura (via TKO at Rizin 20). The 26-year-old is a former Rizin Bantamweight Champion. Kape’s professional record currently stands at 15 wins and 4 losses.
UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 with Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight title headlining. The placement of the flyweight bout has yet to be determined.
