Robbie Lawler has earned his spot in the UFC Hall of fame.
It’s been confirmed that the former UFC Welterweight Champion was the latest inductee into the Modern Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame. The 42-year-old is already in the Hall of Fame as his title fight against Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 was inducted in 2023.
Lawler’s induction into the Hall of Fame joins the Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum (Fight Wing) and Craig Piligian (Contributor Wing) into the 2025 induction class.
Lawler’s induction is well deserved as he’s one of the pioneers of the welterweight division. The former UFC Welterweight Champion didn’t just make an impact in the UFC, but he was a big part of the now defunct Strikeforce and EliteXC. Lawler’s had classic bouts against Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks, and Jake Ellenberger. Robbie was an instrumental part of the growing welterweight division and his induction solidifies the influence he had during his time in the UFC.
Lawler did speak about being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and he had a feeling that the announcement would come.
“I had a feel for it. I just did,” Lawler said after his induction was confirmed. “I didn’t tell anybody I had a feel for it. I let my wife know. I’m like, ‘Hey …’ And then when I was sitting where I was sitting, I was (suspecting it). But still, when it happens, you’re like, ‘Oh – this is actually happening.”
However, he still got emotional once the video package of all the fighters and Dana White saying positive things about him aired.
“It was going pretty good, but then once all those fighters and Dana were saying those nice things about me, I got a little choked up,” Lawler said. “I’m definitely honored – amazing accomplishment. A lot of hard work was put into it, not just me, but trainers, training partners, management team … it’s just been a long road, and just another gift.
“Probably the best part of it is all those kind words from all those fighters and my peers and guys who are coming up now, seeing what I put into the sport and how I fought. It definitely makes me feel good.”
Congratulations to Robbie Lawler! The 2025 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for the 13th Annual UFC International Fight Week on Thursday, June 26, at T-Mobile Arena and will be streamed live, exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS.
