A new lightweight bout has been added to the main card.

It’s just been confirmed that Beneil Dariush and Benoit Saint Denis will collide at the upcoming UFC 322. For Dariush, he’s still trying to repair his image following his devastating loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 289. That shattered an impressive eight-fight winning streak that he had going into the fight.

Dariush failed to rebound in his fight against Arman Tsarukyan (by TKO at UFC on ESPN: Dariush vs. Tsarukyan); however, his win over Renato Moicano at UFC 317 did put him back in the win column. Beneil is currently ranked at number nine within the lightweight division. His professional record stands at 23 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw.

Benoit Saint Denis is currently in the middle of a two-fight winning streak. After failing to beat the now retired Dustin Poirier, that broke a strong five fight winning streak where the lightweight secured a knockout in three of those wins. He fell into a two-fight skid in his bout against Renato Moicano (by TKO at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Saint Denis). However, his wins over Kyle Prepolec (by submission at UFC 315) and Maurício Ruffy (by submission at UFC Fight Night: Imavov vs. Borralho) have improved his rankings as he’s currently number thirteen in the lightweight division. Benoit’s professional record is 15 wins and 3 losses.

This lightweight bout joins a stacked Madison Square Garden show where A UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev headlines the event. Valentina Shevchenko vs. Zhang Weili for the UFC Strawweight Championship is the co-main event of the upcoming pay-per-view.
