Alejandro Perez is off UFC Fight Island 5.

Originally, the bantamweight was set to fight Thomas Almeida at the upcoming fight night event; however, Perez tested positive for COVID-19, thus the fighter had to be pulled from the card. Almeida is expected to remain on the card as officials are currently seeking his replacement; however, it’s unknown which names are being asked to fight the veteran.

Perez hoped to get back into the win column as The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America Tournament Winner is coming off back-to-back losses to Song Yadong (via KO at UFC 239) and Cody Stamann (via unanimous decision at UFC 235).

Almeida is also looking to get his first win in nearly two years as the veteran suffered two consecutive losses to Jimmie Rivera (via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 25) and Rob Font (via TKO at UFC 220). Almeida’s professional record is 21 wins and 3 losses.
