Alexander Gustafsson breaks his silence.

For the first time since announcing his retirement last year, Alexander Gustafsson made his return as a heavyweight last weekend against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum. Unfortunately for Gustafsson, he ended up taking a first-round submission loss and now, the Sweden native has suffered three losses in a row.

Since Gustafsson announced his retirement following his fight against Anthony Smith last year, many wondered if the 33-year-old would finally call it a career with his latest defeat; however, that doesn’t appear to be the case as Gustafsson congratulates Werdum and remains positive about his overall future:

As previously mentioned, Gustafsson has lost three bouts in a row, dropping fights to Jon Jones and Anthony Smith as well. The light heavyweight title challenger hasn’t won a bout since UFC Fight Night 109 against Glover Teixeira. At the moment, there’s no word on when Gustafsson could make his return to the octagon.
