A big light heavyweight contest has been rescheduled for the newly set UFC show on May 13 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida as Anthony Smith will take on Glover Teixeira.
Smith is coming off an impressive submission victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 153 back in June 2019. While Smith suffered a setback against Jon Jones for the Light Heavyweight title at UFC 235, the Texas native has won four out of his last five fights within the octagon, besting Rashad Evans (via knockout at UFC 225), Maurício Rua (via knockout at UFC Fight Night 134), Volkan Oezdemir (via submission at UFC Fight Night 138). Smith’s professional record currently stands at 33 wins and 14 losses.
Glover Teixeira is in the midst of a three-fight winning streak, with the light heavyweight besting Karl Roberson (via submission at UFC Fight Night 143), Ion Cuțelaba (via submission at UFC Fight Night 150), and Nikita Krylov (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 158). The Brazilian has only suffered one setback in his last five fights, which was against Corey Anderson via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 134. Teixeira’s professional record currently stands at 30 wins and 7 losses.
