A new heavyweight match-up is confirmed for UFC 250 as Blagoy Ivanov will take on Augusto Sakai.
Ivanov is coming off a split decision loss against Derrick Lewis at UFC 244. Since joining the UFC in 2018, the heavyweight’s record has been a mixed bag as the 33-year-old lost his debut match-up against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos; however, Ivanov did get two back-to-back wins over Ben Rothwell (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 146) and Tai Tuivasa (via unanimous decision at UFC 238). His professional record currently stands at 18 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no contest.
Ivanov’s opponent, Augusto Sakai, is currently on a five-fight winning streak, with his recent victory being over Marcin Tybura via knockout at UFC Fight Night 158. Since joining the UFC after his stint on Dana White’s Contender Series, Sakai has gotten huge wins over Chase Sherman (via TKO at UFC Fight Night 137) and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 150). Sakai’s professional record currently stands at 14 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no contest.
UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, June 6 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced.
