I guess we won’t be getting Brian Ortega vs. Chan Sung Jung anytime soon.
Originally, the featherweights were supposed to clash at UFC on ESPN+ 23 back in December; however, Ortega was forced to pull out of the fight due to a knee injury. The “Korean Zombie” fought former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar instead and arguably got the biggest win of his career thus far.
Issues still lingered between Jung and Ortega though, with the latter causing a scene back at UFC 248 when he slapped Jay Park, Jung’s translator. Rightfully pissed off, Jung promised to [frick] up the featherweight’s face when they meet inside the cage (Transcript courtesy of Sherdog):
“You are such a coward for slapping a musician not a fighter. If you f—ing planned this to fight me and to use my name because people don't remember your name anymore, then I congratulate you, it worked. I will fight you and I will knock you out and your f—-ing face will be bloody. Now, your f—ing face stays in my mind and I will f—k you up in the cage. I hope you won’t run away from me again.”
However, according to Brian Ortega, it doesn’t seem like the 33-year-old is too interested in the fight as the California native called out the “Korean Zombie” for not signing a contract:
It didn’t take Jung long to respond to Ortega, citing travel issues as the reason he can’t make it over to the states at the moment:
