A date has been made official for Brian Ortega and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung as the two featherweights will finally clash on October 17. Originally, these two were set to fight on December 21; however, Ortega was forced to pull out due to a torn ACL injury.
Ortega is coming off his first professional loss, which was to then UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway at UFC 231. Prior to the devastating defeat, the 29-year-old was on a strong 14-fight winning streak that saw him get wins over Frankie Edgar (via KO at UFC 222), Cub Swanson (via submission at UFC Fight Night 123), and Clay Guida (via KO at UFC 199). Thus far, Ortega has only won his fights via TKO or submission. His professional record currently stands at 14 wins and 1 loss.
Jung is coming off the biggest victory of his career as the 33-year-old beat former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar at UFC Fight Night 165. In total, Jung has won three out of his last five fights, also beating Dennis Bermudez (via KO at UFC Fight Night 104) and Renato Moicano (via TKO at UFC Fight Night 154). He enters the fight with a professional record of 16 wins and 5 losses.
