CM Punk Has Reportedly Been Offered $1 Million To Return To The Ring
Before you get too excited, it's not a WWE ring! However, an indie promotion in The United Kingdom has reportedly offered the former grappler and current UFC star a six figure deal to wrestle for them...
According to British tabloid The Sun, 5 Star Wrestling promoter Daniel Hinkles has offered $1 million to former WWE Champion CM Punk to return to the squared circle for the promotion's 128-man tournament that's set to kick-off on June 10th in Liverpool.
Said Hinkles:
“We’ve been trying to contact CM Punk on and off for well over a year. We wanted him on the first show we did in Edinburgh in 2015. I’ve tried going through friends in the industry, I’ve gone through his website and sent dozens of emails but the opportunity has never been this big. We want to offer CM Punk $1 million dollars (£770,000) to come and join the 5 Star Wrestling tour starting June 10th. It’s a genuine offer. We’d love to hear back from the man himself. We want to do this with him.”
To be honest, the chances of this happening are very slim. Even if Punk needed the cash - and he almost certainly doesn't - he is still under contract with the UFC, even though there are rumors doing the rounds that he won't be taking on another fight for them. Then again, if that is true "The Best in The World" may well reconsider lacing up his wrestling boots again at some point. I guess you really never know.
We haven't heard from Punk, AKA Phil Brooks, on the matter yet, but keep an eye on The Ring Report for updates.
