Corey Anderson has finally responded To Anthony Smith’s comments regarding him and Luke Rockhold needing to earn a fight against him.
Smith is coming off an impressive win over Alexander Gustafsson in the fourth round with a rear-naked choke at UFC Stockholm. Prior to his most notable win to date, the light heavyweight has been criticized by many – with Rockhold and Anderson being some of them – about not truly being a top light heavyweight due to questionable matchmaking.
When Smith received a title shot against Jon Jones, Anderson was quick to denounce him as a fighter who hadn’t “earned his stripes” in the division. “Lionheart” proved that he could hang with the best at UFC Stockholm; however, his comments to Anderson did not go over well with the light heavyweight.
On social media, Anderson blasted Smith and his performance against Jon Jones, and dismisses him as a threat overall:
Smith is currently recovering from hand surgery and is not expected to return until December at the earliest. There’s no word on whether the UFC President is keen on a Smith vs. Anderson bout, but don’t be surprised if the match-up is signed when “Lionheart” returns.
