A featherweight bout has been set for the upcoming UFC Fight Night event on May 16 as Dan Ige will take on Edson Barboza.
Since losing to Julio Arce via unanimous decision at UFC 220, Ige has bounced back in a major way by defeating Mike Santiago (UFC 225), Jordan Griffin (UFC on Fox 31), Danny Henry (UFC Fight Night 147), Kevin Aguilar (UFC Fight Night 154), and Mirsad Bektić (UFC 247). The featherweight is hoping to extend his five-fight winning steak against Barboza and move up the rankings. His professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 2 losses.
Barboza is hoping to climb back into the top 15 featherweight rankings by getting a much needed win over Ige on May 16. The Brazilian is coming off back-to-back losses against Justin Gaethje (via knockout at UFC on ESPN 2) and Paul Felder (via split decision at UFC 242). Barboza hasn’t gotten consecutive victories since his wins over Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez, and Beneil Dariush back in 2016/2017. His professional record currently stands at 20 wins and 8 losses.
UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris takes place on Saturday, May 16 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris headlining.
