Dana White is definitely interested in bringing back Brock Lesnar.
When news came to light about the former Universal Champion’s contract expiring with the WWE, fighters such as Jon Jones have taken the opportunity to call out the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. Jones and Lesnar have teased a match-up in the past, though the bout never came to fruition as Lesnar ultimately decided to stay with the WWE.
The reasoning behind Lesnar resigning a WWE contract stems from the UFC reportedly not accepting the 43-year-old’s financial offer for the title fight against Daniel Cormier. However, that was simply a year ago and business has changed since then.
While many speculate that Lesnar will return to the WWE eventually, the possibility of the “Beast Incarnate” returning to the octagon is still there. So, is Dana White interested in bringing back the former UFC Heavyweight Champion?
The UFC President isn’t shooting down a Lesnar return, but that’s if the former WWE star is serious about fighting again (Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting):
“If they both want to fight each other, I’m sure it’s a fight that the fans would want to see,” White said. “It would be a good introduction for Jones into the heavyweight division.
“Yeah, if they wanted to do it, I would do it.”
The problem is, White hasn’t talked to Lesnar in over a year, so there’s no way of knowing whether the former UFC star is interested in making a return:
“I haven’t talked to Brock,” White said. “I haven’t talked to Brock in probably a year. I don’t know [if he wants to fight again]. He’s 43 years old and he’s got a lot of money. So I don’t know what his plans are, how his body feels, any of that. Like I said, I haven’t talked to him.”
Brock Lesnar has remained silent since word has gotten out that his contract ended in the WWE. As previously mentioned, the former WWE Universal Champion is expected to sign a new deal with the company, but plans can always change on Lesnar’s end.
