Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic part two is happening.

The rematch between the two heavyweights was expected once Brock Lesnar confirmed his retirement from professional MMA, and tonight the UFC made it official. The two will meet in the Octagon with the world heavyweight championship on the line at UFC 241 on August 17.

Cormier won the heavyweight belt by knocking out Stipe Miocic in the first round of their title match at UFC 226 in July 2018. He was looking forward to a big pay day match against superstar Brock Lesnar before retiring from the sport; however, it now appears fans will never get that superfight. Reports claim that Lesnar was seeking more money to fight Cormier.

In any case, a rematch between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic will hopefully prove equally exciting. Miocic, who had previously defended the title a UFC-record three consecutive times, has been calling for a rematch against Cormier. "I'm ready," he told ESPN when the fight was being set. "I've been read. And I'm going to take back what's mine."
