Deiveson Figueiredo is coming into the octagon for the second time in 2025.
The former UFC Flyweight Champion is returning back to the octagon in 2025 as Deiveson Figueiredo will take on Montel Jackson at UFC Rio. The last time Figueiredo fought was back in May against Cory Sandhagen and he ended up taking a devastating TKO in the second round.
That loss came after Petr Yan got the better of the 37-year-old back on November 23, 2024. Before those two fights, Figueiredo was on a nice three-fight winning streak, beating Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera. Despite his string of losses following his UFC 283 bout against Brandon Moreno, Deiveson’s record within the UFC is still pretty good and he’s a strong fight or two away from re-entering as a top contender for the flyweight championship. His professional record currently stands at 24 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw.
This is Montel Jackson’s biggest fight to date. The UFC star is riding a solid six-fight winning streak, with three of those wins coming via TKO. But none of those opponents were ranked. Deiveson is a former two time champion, and though he’s struggled in his past two fights, that doesn’t mean that he’ll be an easy opponent for the up-and-coming flyweight as Deiveson is still a top level performer who can take out any fighter that isn’t truly prepared for him.
But Jackson hasn’t lost a fight in five years and both of his UFC losses came via unanimous decision. Jackson’s professional record currently stands at 15 wins and 2 losses.
The upcoming UFC Rio show continues to grow into a stacked card that is set to be headlined with former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira quickly stepping back into the octagon against Rafael Fiziev. Veterans Vicente Luque and Santiago Ponzinibbio are also scheduled to lock horns at the Rio event. UFC Rio is shaping up to have one of the best fight night cards of 2025.
With the new addition, the UFC Rio lineup now includes:
- Charles Oliveira vs. Rafael Fiziev
- Thomas Petersen vs. Vitor Petrino
- Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Julia Polastri
- Stewart Nicoll vs. Lucas Rocha
- Jhonata Diniz vs. Mario Pinto
- Irina Alekseeva vs. Bia Mesquita
- Vicente Luque vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Montel Jackson
