Could we finally see Demian Maia against Diego Sanchez?

Both men have been in the UFC for over ten years; however, Sanchez and Maia have never come in contact with one another inside of the octagon. Well, that might change very soon as Maia has expressed retirement once his UFC contract was up, and with only one fight left on his deal, the 42-year-old respectfully called out Sanchez:

It didn’t take long for Sanchez to respond and it seems like the 38-year-old is game for a fight against the MMA veteran:

As previously stated, Maia is expected to wrap up his career inside the octagon once his UFC contract is done. The Brazilian has been fighting professionally since 2001 and while Maia hasn't won any titles within the UFC, the welterweight has consistently delivered exciting fights. Maia is coming off a loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night 170; however, the Brazil native has won three out of his last five fights.

Sanchez has a bit of momentum on his side as the fighter is coming off a win over Michel Pereira at UFC Fight Night 167. The welterweight has won three out of his last five fights as well. As of this writing, there’s no word on whether UFC officials will book the big match-up.
