Derrick Lewis is hoping to continue building steam after his impressive TKO on Rodrigo Nascimento in May 2024. Just a few years ago, the UFC heavyweight was in danger of being released as Lewis fell into a three-fight skid, but the 40-year-old adjusted his game plan and rebounded nicely in his last three fights. Lewis is currently ranked ninth in the heavyweight division; his professional record stands at 28 wins and 12 losses.
On the other hand, Lewis has to go through Tallison Teixeira, who is currently undefeated in MMA. Teixeira was discovered through Dana White’s Contender Series and has gotten nothing but knockouts since his first UFC fight. In fact, Teixeira’s resume is full of knockouts, with only one win going by the way of submission. Lewis is Tallison’s biggest test to date and should he beat the UFC veteran then he’ll climb up in the rankings. Tallison’s professional record currently stands at 8 wins and 0 losses.
In the co-main event, Stephen Thompson is looking to get out of his two-fight skid as the welterweight hasn't won a bout in three years. In fact, the only fight Thompson has won in his past five bouts was against Kevin Holland back in December 2022. Thompson is currently ranked at No 12 in the welterweight division; his professional record stands at 17 wins, 8 losses, and 1 draw.
Gabriel Bonfim is fresh off back-to-back wins over Khaos Williams and Ange Loosa. Bonfim suffered a minor setback when he lost to Nicolas Dalby at UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Lewis, but he managed to recover big time and is on pace to nabbing a welterweight title shot. Should Bonfim win then it’ll likely put him in the top 15 rankings. Bonfim’s record currently stands at 17 wins and 1 loss.
