A new lightweight contest is set for the UFC Fight Night event on June 27 as Dustin Poirier will take on Dan Hooker.
Poirier is coming off his UFC Lightweight title loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. Despite the setback for Poirier, the 31-year-old has beaten top tier competitors in his last five fights, besting Anthony Pettis (via submission at UFC Fight Night 120), Justin Gaethje (via TKO at UFC on FOX 29), Eddie Alvarez (via TKO at UFC on Fox 30), and Max Holloway (via unanimous decision at UFC 236). Poirier’s professional record currently stands at 25 wins, 6 losses, and 1 no contest.
Hooker is currently in the midst of a three-fight winning streak on the other hand, with the lightweight beating James Vick (via KO at UFC on ESPN 4), Al Iaquinta (via unanimous decision at UFC 243), and Paul Felder (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 168). Hooker hasn't lost a fight since December 2018. His professional record currently stands at 20 wins and 8 losses.
UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 from a location to be announced with the two lightweights headlining.
