Yoshinori Horie is done with the UFC.

In a surprising move, the Japan native has been released from the promotion after only fighting once. The news was first reported on MMA Plus from Bruno Massami. Horie’s only fight within the promotion was against Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 240. The 24-year-old fought hard throughout the bout; however, Horie would ultimately succumb to a devastating head kick in the third round.

Before entering the UFC, Yoshinori was one of the top stars in the Japanese promotion, Pancrase MMA. Horie walked into his bout against Dawodu on a two-fight winning streak. As of this writing, there’s no word on why Horie was released. The featherweight leaves the UFC with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses.
