Coming off her dominant performance at UFC 238 earlier this month, flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has already agreed to her next bout. She will reportedly seek her second title defense against Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC Fight Night on August 10 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Carmouche is one of just two fighters to beat Shevchenko in the Octagon. Shevchenko lost twice to current bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes before dropping down to the 125-pound flyweight division where she has looked unstoppable. But in 2010, prior to her fights against Nunes in the UFC, Shevchenko lost to Carmouche via second-round TKO at a regional show outside Oklahoma.
Shevchenko is a perfect 3-0 since returning to the flyweight division in February 2018 following her second loss to Amanda Nunes. She most recently defended the UFC women's flyweight championship by defeating Jessica Eye by KO with a vicious headkick at UFC 238 earlier this month.
Carmouche is coming off a unanimous decision win over Lucie Pudilová at UFC Fight Night in February. She was originally slated to face Roxanne Modaferri on July 13, but has now been replaced with Jennifer Maia. Carmouche has won four of her last five fights, with her only loss coming to Alexis Davis back in 2017.
Shevchenko-Carmouche is slotted as the main event for UFC Fight Night on August 10. It will be air on ESPN+.
