A new flyweight will get a chance to make his mark in the UFC.
TASS has confirmed that Tagir Ulanbekov has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion; however, any other details regarding his contract remain disclosed.
Ulanbekov is currently on an impressive three-fight winning streak by beating top prospects Denilson Matos (via submission at Gorilla Fighting Championship 22), Alexander Podlesniy (via unanimous decision at Gorilla Fighting Championship 11), and Denis Oliveira Fontes Araujo (via submission at Gorilla Fighting Championship 19) and has only one professional career loss overall.
UFC’s newest flyweight trains with lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Other than Gorilla Fighting Championship, Ulanbekov has competed in Fight Nights Global, Pride Fighting Show, and Fight Star. Ulanbekov’s professional record currently stands at 10 wins and 1 loss. There’s no word on when the flyweight will make his debut for the company. The 29-year-old joins a stacked division that features Brandon Moreno, Jussier Formiga, and Alexandre Pantoja.
At the moment, the 125-pound belt remains vacant with Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez set to clash again for the prestigious championship on Saturday, July 18.
