The former Lightweight and Welterweight Champion is now in the midst of another controversy.
On Monday night, BJ Penn allegedly got into a fight with a strip club bouncer in Honolulu, Hawaii and some of the incident was captured on video. The exact details on how the fight started are scarce, but according to
TMZ Sports, Penn was being escorted out of Club Femme Nu and things apparently got physical with the MMA veteran and the bouncer pretty quickly.
There’s no word on what set off the fight; however, in the video, the bouncer and Penn – who’s face is never shown – are on the ground tussling. Penn’s friends are trying to get the UFC Fighter off the bouncer, but the 40-year-old – who was reportedly very drunk – continued to scrap with the bouncer. Police would eventually make their way to the scene of the incident, but Penn had allegedly fled by the time they arrived.
There has been no comment from Penn or the UFC at this time, it is also unknown if Penn will get charged with anything. TMZ states that a warrant is not out for Penn’s arrest and the victim in the video has not come forward to the police on the situation.
