Will Jorge Masvidal vs. Colby Covington finally happen?
For the past couple of years, both fighters have bashed each other on numerous occasions, as the former American Top Team members hate for each other has been made clear. However, the match-up between the two men has never been booked. That may end up changing very soon.
Dana White has previously teased Masvidal vs. Diaz II, but now, the UFC President out right says that Masvidal vs. Covington could be the next match for the top UFC fighters:
“It’s very possible (Masivdal vs. Covington) is next,” White said. “… I don’t know if we’ve even talked to Nate yet. But yeah, after the Colby fight (vs. Tyron Woodley), how do you not make that fight? That’s the fight that makes sense.”
Last month, the big news in the MMA world was the potential rematch between Masvidal and Diaz, with news outlets reporting that the fight could end up taking place in January. While the UFC President doesn’t shut down the potential rematch, it doesn’t appear that the bout is any closer to being made soon:
“The Nate Diaz rematch is going to be there no matter what happens,” White said.
Covington recently called out "Street Judas" following his dominant win over Tyron Woodley. In terms of Masvidal, he stated back in the summer that he had no interest in fighting the former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion. We’ll surely find out what’s next for both men in the coming months.
