Conor McGregor claims that a deal has been made for him to fight on the White House special.

It’s been officially confirmed by President Trump himself that the White House special will take place on June 14, 2026.

Plenty of fighters have been excited about the upcoming event including big names such as Jon Jones and Conor McGregor. Once the former UFC Lightweight Champion confirmed that he would no longer be running for the President of Ireland, he’s been making it abundantly clear that he wants to get back into the octagon and fight.

Well, Conor took that a step further when he appeared on Fox News as he claimed that it was a “done deal” that he would be fighting on the upcoming UFC special inside of the White House. He doesn't give a name on who his fight has been set against, but Conor came out and stated that Chandler was his guy for June 14th, so that’s the likely assumption.

However, as excited as people were at the thought of Conor McGregor stepping back into the octagon in 2021, Dana White pumped the brakes on this pretty quickly. The UFC CEO shut down Conor’s claims that it's a done deal, citing that he hasn’t even begun negotiations yet.

“We’re still talking about the production and how everything’s going to work at the White House,” White said at the UFC 320 post-fight press conference. “We have not started negotiating any fights for the White House yet. That won’t even start until February.

“I made it clear, Conor wants to fight on that card and you can clearly see Conor is very fired up to fight on that card but nothing is done yet. No fights are being negotiated with the White House.”

Why did Conor fabricate his fight announcement? That’s currently unknown. The UFC star has not responded to White’s recent statements. It’s clear that Conor is excited to be on the White House card, but could this just all be for show? Or is he legitimately serious about putting on the gloves again?

We’ll find out in due time as White has stated that negotiations begin in February. With this much attention that Conor is bringing to the White House card, of course Dana is going to contact Mr. Gregor about being one of the fighters to participate. We’ll find out if it will be a done deal soon enough.
