Former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos will be making his return to the lightweight division on October 24 as the veteran is set to take on Islam Makhachev.
Dos Anjos is hoping to snap the two-fight losing streak that he’s currently on as the veteran has dropped bouts to Leon Edwards (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4) and Michael Chiesa (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 166). In total, the former UFC Lightweight Champion has only one victory in his last five fights, beating Kevin Lee (via submission at UFC Fight Night 152). Dos Anjos’ professional record currently stands at 29 wins and 13 losses.
On the other hand, Makhachev enters on a strong six-fight winning streak, with the welterweight notably beating Gleison Tibau (via KO at UFC 220), Kajan Johnson (via submission at UFC on Fox 30), and Davi Ramos (via unanimous decision at UFC 242). Makhachev hasn’t suffered a loss since 2015 and his professional record currently stands at 18 wins and 1 loss.
UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 with Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje for the UFC Lightweight title headlining the event. The placement of the lightweight fight is currently unknown.
