Bellator MMA has announced that former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger has signed on to compete for their heavyweight division.

Swagger (real name Donald Jacob "Jake" Hager Jr.) hinted that he was considering a career in MMA a few months back during an interview, and now he will officially become the next pro-wrestler to try his hand (well, fist) in the octagon.

The transition from pro-wrestling to MMA didn't go particularly well for CM Punk, but Swagger has the legitimate amateur wrestling background that Punk lacked, and other grapplers such as Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have done very well in the octagon.

It remains to be seen how Swagger fares, of course, but we think there's a lot of potential there. What about you guys?
