You know the story by now, Georges St-Pierre is the NEW middleweight champion after a submission win against Mciahel Bisping. However, GSP wanted to prove that the UFC is more than just trash talk, something Michael Bisping did during the entire build of their fight.
"Maritals arts is not about who's got the biggest balls," GSP said in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. "Sorry for my language. Its about techinque, setting traps and intelligence. I was fighting a bigger man and I was trying to prove it tonight to all my fans."
GSP's technique, trap, and intelligence was definitely on display against the former middleweight champion Michael Bisping. GSP studied his opponent first and then game planned on what it will take to beat the former champ. "I studied a lot of his tape," St-Pierre said. "I knew he had problems with the shot coimng to his right. Our plan was to fake him on his left side to attract his attention and strike him on the right. That's what we did most of the fight. It was a trick. Sometimes I put traps. I have more experience . Before, a few years ago, I was always trying to force things and I think the best in fighting is to try to set up some traps on your opponents."
The next step for St-Pierre, to unify the middleweight title with interim champion Robert Whittaker. The time and date has been yet to be announced, but its surely a fight we'll looking forward to seeing when it comes.
