Gilbert Burns has been confirmed to step in and replace Thiago Alves for UFC Copenhagen.

Gilbert Burns is in the midst of a nice three-fight winning streak, as he's soundly defeated Alexey Kunchenko, Mike Davis, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. His professional mixed martial arts record stands at 16 wins and 3 losses.

Gunnar Nelson is coming to the bout looking to gain some momentum, as the lightweight fighter lost to Leon Edwards back at UFC London in March. The Iceland native’s record for his last three fights are a mixed bag with Nelson taking more losses than wins. His bout against Alex Oliveira at UFC 238 resulted in a win; however, his fight prior to the 238 match-up saw him lose to Santiago Ponzinibbio via knockout. Nelson’s record currently stands at 17 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.

UFC Fight Night Copenhagen is set to take place on September 28 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight bout between Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier.
