Ciryl Gane vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov has been scrapped from UFC 249 next month.

The heavyweight bout was originally scheduled for the preliminary card on Saturday April 18; however, Gane was forced to withdraw from the match-up due to suffering an injury.

The fighter was hoping to extend his undefeated streak as Gane has 6 wins and 0 losses under his belt. The 29-year-old was coming off a victory over Tanner Boser at UFC Fight Night Busan back in December 2019.

Abdurakhimov is expected to remain on the pay-per-view card as officials are reportedly seeking a replacement for the heavyweight. There’s no word on who his potential opponent could be at the special event in Brooklyn. As always, we’ll keep you updated when a new bout has been confirmed.

UFC 249 is set to take place in Brooklyn, New York with Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson for the Lightweight title headlining the show. Rose Namajunas will make her return to the octagon to take on Jessica Andrade, and Jeremy Stephens will face Calvin Kattar.
