Holly Holm Shuts Down Raquel Pennington; Earns Unanimous Decision Win In UFC 246 Co-Main Event

Holly Holm has once again beaten Raquel Pennington, only this time in more convincing fashion. The two fighters last met in the Octagon back in 2015. It was Holm's UFC debut and she came away with a split decision win.

The rematch at UFC 246 was a bit more one-sided. Holm neutralized Pennington's power by staying close, fighting in the clinch and keeping the fight up against the fence. While it didn't make for a terribly exciting co-main event, it was an incredibly smart approach by Holm who came away with a unanimous decision victory (29-28 and 30-27 x2).

"I think I need to show more of my abilities to get that title shot again, I always want to have big knockouts, but I’m still learning and improving as a martial artist, so we’ll see where it goes," Holm said after the win.

With the win, the No. 3-ranked Holm moves to 13-5. She's back in the win column after a TKO loss to Amanda Nunes in July 2019. It should also help stave off any talk or pressure of retirement for the 38-year-old former bantamweight champion. For Raquel Pennington, she falls to 10-8 and has now lost three of her previous four fights.
