Holly Holm vs. Irene Aldana has officially been rescheduled as the bantamweight match-up will now headline the fight night show on Oct. 3. Originally, these two were set to main event the August 1 show; however, Aldana tested positive for the coronavirus, so the bout was ultimately scrapped.
Holm is coming off a much-needed win over Raquel Pennington at UFC 246. The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion hasn’t been able to gain some solid momentum following her title loss to Miesha Tate at UFC 196. Since then, Holm has only won three fights, which was also against Bethe Correia (via KO at UFC Fight Night 111) and Megan Anderson (via unanimous decision at UFC 225). Holm’s professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 5 losses.
Aldana is in the middle of a two-fight winning streak, beating Vanessa Melo (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 159) and Ketlen Vieira (via KO at UFC 245). While she did suffer a recent loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC on ESPN 4, the bantamweight also managed to score big wins over Lucie Pudilová (via split decision at UFC 228) and Bethe Correia (via submission at UFC 237) within her last five fights. Aldana’s professional record currently stands at 12 wins and 5 losses.
