Jennifer Maia vs. Viviane Araujo will now take place at UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana on August 1. The reason the match-up was taken off the Poirier vs. Hooker card on June 27 stems from the travel restrictions in Brazil, according to MMA Fighting.
Maia is looking to rebound after her loss to Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 244. The loss broke a two-fight winning streak for the flyweight as Maia beat Alexis Davis (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 148) and Roxanne Modafferi (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4). The 31-year-old has managed to win three out of her last five fights. Maia’s professional record currently stands at 17 wins, 6 losses, 1 no contest.
When Araujo made her debut in 2019, she came into the company with some solid momentum as the flyweight was on a three-fight winning streak. Araujo continued to rack up wins by beating Talita Bernardo (via KO at UFC 237) and Alexis Davis (via unanimous decision at UFC 240); however, her loss against Jessica Eye at UFC 245 broke her winning streak. Araujo’s professional record currently stands at 8 wins and 2 losses.
UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana takes place on Saturday, August 1 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with the two bantamweights headlining. The placement of the flyweight bout has yet to be confirmed.
