Jim Ross Reckons UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones Might Be Interested In Coming To WWE
Jon "Bones" Jones recently challenged Brock Lesnar to a fight in the octagon - but is there a chance the pair could actually get it on in a WWE ring someday? Find out what Jim Ross had to say after the jump.
When Jon Jones (not the Martian Manhunter) defeated Daniel Cormier to win back the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship this past Saturday at UFC 214, he took the opportunity to challenge current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to a fight.
The pair are expected to come to blows at some point next year (providing a deal that benefits all parties involved can be struck), but during the latest edition of his podcast, Jim Ross had some very interesting things to say about the possibility of Jones making his way to The WWE in the future.
"Ironically, word on the street is that Jones is also interested in a WWE payday some day in the future which adds some irony to the Bones-Brock UFC scenario. Athletes are arguably smarter today than ever before and they realise that these massive paydays are not going to last forever plus the fact that no one ever has “enough money” contrary to public sentiment from those who actually don’t have enough money.
Good Ol' JR has contacts in both UFC and WWE, so there's a very good chance this isn't just a throwaway rumor. What better way to promote the big fight than to have Jones turn up and provoke Lesnar at a WWE event? Maybe even costing him his Universal title at SummerSlam, perhaps?
Okay, we might be getting ahead of ourselves there - but don't be surprised if we do see Jones make some kind of impact in The WWE sooner or later.
