It appears that the main event for UFC Fight Night Tampa could be in trouble.
According to a report on
Combate, the former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has reportedly informed officials that she isn’t going to make weight for her bout against Michelle Waterson for UFC Fight Night Tampa this weekend.
The article states that Waterson does not want to fight Jedrzejczyk at catchweight or face potential replacements Amanda Ribas or Mackenzie Dern. Both fighters have a considerably lower ranking than Waterson. There’s also the possibly of Angela Hill facing Jedrzejczyk at catchweight, with Waterson moving to UFC 244; however, the opponent has yet to be confirmed.
At the moment, nothing has been confirmed in regards to the main event for this weekend; however, should the bout be scrapped altogether, then the featherweight fight between Cub Swanson and Kron Gracie is a strong contender for headlining the Tampa card. As always, we’ll keep you updated on the situation as it continues to develop.
