Joanne Calderwood released a statement after her rough weekend.
The flyweight took a huge risk by fighting Jennifer Maia this past Saturday at UFC Vegas 5 and unfortunately for Calderwood, the match-up ended up doing her opponent a big favor as the flyweight title contender suffered a submission loss in the first round.
However, the scary moment for the 33-year-old is what transpired backstage, with the UFC President revealing that Calderwood actually passed out after the fight. Her manager, Danny Rubenstein, confirmed the news; however, he did state that she would be okay. Based off her statement, the Scottish fighter seems to be in good spirits and congratulates Maia on her big win:
MMA Fighting reveals that Calderwood’s manager had confirmed that the UFC star has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here’s wishing Calderwood a speedy recovery. As of this writing, there’s no word on when she’ll make her return to the octagon.
